Melville's take on Galapagos

I have been there and my take is sorta like Melville's...a bucket load of cinders but I see more in the ecology than he was seeing. The complete non-interest the animals and birds have in humans.Very interesting to read what was said in Melville's days and what we think of the islands now. The Galapagos was a place to exploit then and now it is an unspoiled group of islands to savor. Well worth the read...a short 65 pages.
