Karina Elden is a financially struggling woman searching for a career change. When she answers a newspaper ad for a travel agent she grows suspicious of the offer she receives that promises more money than seems legitimate. She soon learns that her suspicions are correct when the company delivers a machine to her house designed to control what she dreams while she is asleep. Curiosity and the lure of money soon get the best of her and she begins to use the machine. While in one of the controlled dreams she learns to her horror that she is now a sleeper, someone who cannot wake up, and that tourists are paying money to share her dream with her using the same machines. Unsure how long she will be kept asleep or how long her body can last if not allowed to wake up, she must find a way to escape from the artificial nightmare world known as the Emery Forest.
