The Electric Power System Circuit Model Representation: An in Depth and Pedagogical Approach to the Per Unit System (2017)

Every engineering problem finally becomes an economic one because decision making criteria are supported on studies results made to actual systems, whose reliability highly depends on the correct assessment of the parameters for mathematical models, which justifies the importance of Electric Power System Representation. In addition, for solving practical problems a solid theoretical foundation is required, meaning that a trouble practical situation must not be solved by the trial-error method, but by applying knowledge on the actual system performance.The circuit model of an arbitrary interconnection of transformers, energy transmission lines and three-phase generators (electric power system) is obtained by describing and applying a procedure to obtain the equivalent circuit of generators and transformers from their nominal plate data.
