Off the coast of New England, shrouded in fog and forgotten by time, lies Caligo Island-a crumbling fortress of brick and rot that once housed the worst of the criminally insane. Now reactivated under the name The Eighth Ward, it serves a darker purpose. Not for rehabilitation. Not even for containment.
For experimentation.
Dr. Ira Calder, a disgraced neuroscientist with a taste for unethical boundaries, has been granted full autonomy to "cure" what society has deemed incurable. Inmates are subjected to psychological mazes, invasive surgeries, and rituals disguised as treatments. Memories are rewritten. Limbs are repurposed. Sanity is a currency-and most have none left to spend.
Enter Maren Vale, a forensic nurse sent to audit the facility after a series of disturbing transmissions are intercepted. But from the moment she steps onto the island, she realizes something is terribly wrong. The staff won't speak of the patients. The walls shift at night. And the screams echo long after the mouths stop moving.
Maren must unravel the horrors that hide behind flesh and memory before she loses herself to the twisted minds that run the ward-or worse, becomes a patient herself.
Because on Caligo Island, you don't heal.
You adapt.
Or you rot.
