The Eastern Road
Amina and Kato thought they had already uncovered the greatest secret their grandfather had kept from them. But when an old letter arrives bearing the mark of the Five Families, they learn that their journey is far from over.
The message sends them east, along an ancient road where the rising sun seems to point toward a forgotten part of their family's past.
Carrying a brass key, an old map, and clues left behind by Samuel, the children follow a trail of five marks, five stones, and a promise that has been passed from one generation to another.
Along the way, they discover that the secret of the Five Families was never about treasure or power. It was about protecting water, land, knowledge, memory, and a promise made long ago.
But someone else is searching for the same secret.
As Amina and Kato travel farther from home, they must decide whom they can trust and what they are willing to do with the truth they uncover.
The Eastern Road is the third book in the Five Families series, continuing the story of family, courage, mystery, and responsibility begun in The Secret of the Five Families.
