Great book

This is best world history book I have ever seen. The writing is a bit higher level, but it contains many maps and wonderful images the authors had to borrow from museums around the world. The text starts from the earliest civilizations from around 5000 BCE until the present day. What separates this book from the other texts on world history is that this book does not focus on the white man. In fact, it talks very little about European society and more on China, Mesopotamia, Greece, Egypt, India, etc. Basically, it's actually WORLD history. A great text for class. I'm currently using it for AP world history at my school.

Excellent, informative textbook

This textbook is a wonderful resource for anyone in a college level or AP world history class. Stemming from over 5000bce to 2000ce, this book covers most major historical events in stunning detail. The pictures and historical accounts are excellent parallels to the information contained in the text. I highly recommend this textbook, it is a must for anyone studying world history in detail!

INTERESTING YET NOT COMPREHENSIVE.

Although this book discusses in depth, the effects of history,it is definately not for the average student! This study of world history goes above and beyond any average way of learning. If you are prepared for a challenge, then get ready to experience what will probably become the most fulfilling time of your life!

The earth and its people: a global history

Excellent book for senior high school-college-undergraduate studies, covering the broad field of world history. The text is structured in such a manner as to suit both brief studies of various areas and times, as well as more in depth, long term programs. A fascinating assortment of primary source excerpts have been included, from earliest human societies to issues facing humanity in the contemporary period. Though the text has a slight Western emphasis, it covers non-Western civilisations quite well.Be prepared though for extensive reading. The complete set is very large, but shouldn't be an obstacle for those with a passion for both general and obscure history!
