An avenging angel bent on justice, Jesse McCallum shows no mercy. When he catches up with the scum who'd murdered his father, he makes short work of them, but their stunningly beautiful captive is another matter... Raised in the lap of luxury in Boston, Katherine Kelly Dory had begged to accompany her father on his trip west with the railroad. She never imagined she would be abducted, rescued by a wild man and claimed in a primitive mating ceremony. When her longtime fianc? finally whisks her home, she wonders if she will ever be able to forget Jesse McCallum or the starlit night when her young body first knew his touch and her proud spirit soared with his.
Rescued from outlaws by a man looking for revenge, Katherine Dory convinces her rescuer to help her find her family. Katherine never imagined in her upper-crust life that she would be wandering the wilderness with a wild man of Jesse McCallum's upbringing. Even worse she never imagined her self falling in love and marrying him either. Jesse McCallum knew he and Katherine were from different words but he couldn't stop himself from loving her and marrying her. Alone in the wilderness their love was perfect but when Katherine is reunited with her family, will what they share survive? The Eagle and the Dove starts out as a great historical romance with the clashing of the hero and heroine and then the falling of love. I was enjoying it a lot until Katherine abandoned Jesse. At that point she was unworthy of Jesse's love. I adored Jesse, he deserved so much more and much better treatment. This is one of the few times in a story that I didn't want a happy ending between the hero and the heroine, I honestly wanted Jesse to move on and forget her. In the end there is a romantic happily ever after, but I'm still holding a grudge. Ley Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed
fascinating Americana historical romance

Bostonian Katherine Dory accompanies her father and her fiancé by rail through Colorado when a gang of outlaws kidnap her. Jesse McCallum was following these killers who murdered his father. By killing them he rescues Katherine. She persuades him to escort her up the Sangre de Cristo Mouintains. As they journey together, they cannot resist their attraction for one another; Jesse and Katherine are "married" in a mountain ceremony; they make love right afterward. Her fiancé finds her so as the dutiful woman she returns to her privileged lifestyle in Boston, but her heart and soul remains in the Rocky Mountains. THE EAGLE AND THE DOVE is a fascinating Americana historical romance starring two people who their contemporaries would say are an unlikely pairing as she is a Boston Brahmin and he is a mountain man. Readers will wonder whether Katherine will marry her typecast upper crust snob of a fiancé or return to the Rockies where she found the high of love. This well written though stereotypical mid nineteenth century romance highlights the purity of the wilderness vs. the contamination of the big city. Harriet Klausner
