A wild life...mystery, thriller

I just finished The Dummy Line (for the second time) and really enjoyed it. Great first novel. The charters and the various scenes were built with reality and suspense. I hated the bad guys and cheered for the good ones. I did wonder how Bobby Cole knew how to fight so dirty. Knocking out the football stars' teeth on the bumper of the Jeep was rough. He also knew about "cut shells" and I always thought only poachers knew that trick (often used during bird season, before deer season). As a former game warden I knew that method. The authors' worldly knowledge of the "wild" shows up well in his writing and story. Mr. Cole has a formula for success. Like the mystery thrillers from Harlan Coben and William Tapply, he has developed a character that has staying power. I also enjoy John Sandford and William Kent Krueger because of the state theme and location. Michael McGarrity has the SW theme and character, Kevin Kerney. Cole has all those elements with Jake and the south (West Point, MS). Plus he have woods wisdom and hunting knowledge. I will be on the lookout for the next Jake Crosby novel. Good job!

Wow! Fantastic read . A great book for the entire family . Bobby Cole has brought as much excitement to the hunting camp as John Grisham brings to the courtroom . Before I finished reading Dummy Line, my 14 year old daughter had taken over the book and prolonged my suspense . Excellent !!!

Yesterday, while meeting with the retired District Attorney of Sumter County, Alabama, a copy of the Dummy Line was in my office. After I told him that much of the story takes place in Sumter County and that it is Bobby Cole's first novel, the DA wanted to read it. Today, he returned the book with the following note: "The book was excellent. I read it in one sitting. His style is great." I agree!

A Must Read For Outdoorsmen or Those Who Love Suspense!

The Dummy Line is one of those books you want to read non-stop from cover to cover. Bobby Cole's vivid descriptions reminded me of Rick Bragg's It's All Over But The Shoutin', and the captivating characters will draw you into the plot. If you are an outdoorsmen or appreciate a good suspense novel, The Dummy Line is a must read!

Great Read!!!!!

What a great read! This book gripped me in the first chapter and would not let go until I finished it....I simply did not want to put it down. The action is fast paced and the vivid descriptions make you feel like you are right there fighting along side of Jake, Katy and the rest of the characters! I highly recommend this book!!!!!
