This is a story of the Dugan Family that originated in Ireland. The mother died giving birth to her second son Jim. The father could not forgive the boy and gave him to his sister and her husband to raise. When she died, he discovered he had a brother in America and came to the USA to find him. His brother Dan in America owned and opened a lumber mill in Tennessee.

The story goes on to describe the hardships of the mill due to a greedy banker and an ultimate reunion of the brothers.
