The Dreamer tells the story of Katai who is haunted by his past. He has committed sin by killing his giantlike friend who dared to stand in opposition to his ideas He is destabilized by this heinous act and acts out many dreams through drama

The Dreamer gets us into the intricate social fabric of the Cameroonian youth with seemingly no light in the tunnel. The novel is centered around Katai, a teacher, who creates a theatrical troupe that is a major thrill in the city. The novel is like the stage that Katai sets before his enchanted audience every week. It is like a box, one side of which has been cut open and we, like snoopers, peep into a world that belongs to us through the lens of the writer
The Dreamer sets scenes that portray unfulfilled dreams. Although it ends in tragedy, Beyeni Agoons paints a bright future as the young actress migrates to another country with a firm determination to partner with OJ, the dynamic driver, to set up a business back home
