Jareth, a humble stable hand in the remote village of Aeridor, dreams of becoming a Dragon Rider despite his low social standing. When a corrupted dragon attacks Aeridor, Jareth's bravery reveals his talent to Bronwyn, a retired Dragon Rider, who sees his potential.

Bronwyn takes Jareth to Dragon Mount for training, where he faces skepticism and prejudice, especially from Torin, an arrogant youth from a prestigious family. He perseveres, bonding with Veridian, a seemingly unremarkable dragon. During the Dragon Trials, Torin tries to undermine Jareth, but he relies on his resourcefulness and bond with Veridian to overcome the challenges.

Torin offers Jareth a place in his group, promising status and acceptance, but Jareth refuses, choosing to stay true to his values. Vorlag attacks the Citadel with corrupted dragons, gravely injuring Bronwyn and weakening Veridian. Jareth, with Nessa's help, discovers an ancient ritual to purify the corrupted dragons and confronts Vorlag.

In a final battle, Jareth defeats Vorlag and performs the purification ritual, restoring balance to the land. He returns to the Citadel as a hero, earning respect and becoming a symbol of hope, embracing his destiny as a Dragon Rider.
