Good Habits for Great People

To me the great thing about this book is that it teaches people how to train their dog. Mr. Owens has other very good books on how to teach specific behaviors to your dog but this book goes beyond that and teaches the owner how to be successful in teaching those behaviors. I belong to an obedience club and assist in the training classes. One of the biggest issues that I see is helping the people to understand their dog and how to train their dog. Most everyone focuses on teaching your dog to understand you and do what you want them to do. To be really successful at training your dog, you have to understand what your dog is saying to you; is he stressed, is he feeling bad, does he just not understand what you want. The really good trainers understand the dogs that they are training. This book helps the average person understand their dog so that you and your dog learn to work together. In his past books Mr. Owens has shown people how to set their dog up for success rather than failure. This book shows you how to set yourself up for success. The more successful you are, the more successful your dog will be. Great book!

This book showed me how to truly train my new rescue dog to have a fun and trusting relationship. I loved the easy-to-follow instructions, and the pictures helped give me the metal picture. Positive reinforcement training will help my rescue dog (Little Bear)find the confidence to overcome his problems. Thank you so much for writing such a wonderful book!

Great book for you and your dog

This book lays out a simple plan for training you and your dog to develop better habits. The chapter on "Taking a Vacation for Canine Education" is my favorite. An approach that takes the pressure off the owner and makes training fun for both you and your dog. An easy read with lots of practical advice.

This is an AWESOME book!

I read THE DOG WHISPERER and THE PUPPY WHISPERER and when I saw that Mr. Owens had a new book out, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. As soon as it arrived in the mail, I started reading and implementing his inspiring tools with my new puppy that I adopted from the SPCA. She has already started responding, even with her puppy playfulness! I am so excited to have a new guide to help me raise a healthy happy puppy to become a healthy happy dog. Thank you Mr. Owens!
