SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE - NATIONAL BESTSELLER - From the author of The River In this "end-of-the-world novel more like a rapturous beginning" (San Francisco Chronicle), Hig somehow survived... This description may be from another edition of this product.
One of the best novels I’ve ever read…
It’s a marvelous, futuristic story of a few hardy, self-sustaining, rural Coloradans dealing with the breakdown of the world order, in which we live.
They have banded together to fend off scavengers searching for basic necessities that the small clan has accumulated to survive.
A little awkward but a good book

This honestly was a little difficult of a book to read at first just because of the way it was written grammatically. It was a lot of short choppy sentences. After I got through the first chapter or so I caught on to the fact that the writing was an expression of thoughts and it became a little more natural to read. It was a pretty good plot and I found myself reading in longer periods than I have been recently. Overall I enjoyed the book and would recommend it. Just be patient initially.
The Road…for the optimistic.

First thing that stands out is Heller’ prose. So well written and he puts you right there. His description of the landscape and different characters make you fall in love. Plenty of action and great battles/raids. So it compliments books like The Road and The Stand. Not nearly as much focus on the dark bleak side of human nature. It’s there but our main character Hig is eternally hopeful and it all works so well for the plot. A top five post apocalyptic novel for me. A must read for any genre. This has it all.
