Oaxacan Fare

The Dog on the Roof made me want reservations for a stay at Casa Colonial. I'll just have to wait for Ghost of a Gringo.The characters have a distinct vitality, the settings are an almost visceral part of the story, and readers come away with a feeling for what is good about humanity. A humorous caring book by an eminently caring author.

My escape to the Casa Colonial

One of the best books I have read in 2002. The imagination of the writer captivates the reader into thinking they are actually a guest at the Casa Colonial. I could not stop turning the pages.I found myself having a deep down hardy laugh and then sometimes sitting on the edge of my seat conserned if I would be getting out of the situations the characters get involved in. I have recommended this to all my friends and strangers too. I am anxiously waiting for another spellbound book from this author.

A great read!

This is a great book to read while you curl up with a cup of tea or hot chocolate. The setting is fascinating, the characters enjoyable, and the plot and writing attention grabbing. I highly recommend it. The solution to the mystery is as satisfying as the writing.

For something new and entertaining

Suspenseful, entertaining, and rich, this book paints a vivid picture of Oaxacan culture while humorously cracking the case of a Mexican murder. My husband doesn't care for mysteries but was delightfully surprised over this book which says a lot! Definitely a book to consider for a book club.
