A Novel set in apartheid era South Africa. It is Centred on the activities of Tambo, the main character and his associates.Tambo is a boy from rural South Africa who had lost his parents at a very young age and is left alone in his father's compound or kraal.Tambo is compelled to serve a villager who calims Tambo's late father had owned him a number of sheep. He takes away the sheep left behind by Tambo's father.While serving the master, Tambo becomes very intimate with his master's wife and daughter, and is involved in a sexual relationship with both.Tambo is caught by his master having sex with his master's daughter and he and Njoki his Shepard friend had to run away from the village to escape punishment. He is employed by a white farmer and later in the mines in Johannesburg and made head labourer or induna.Tambo is vehemently opposed to the freedom fighters and is held as a role model for the blacks by his white employers.After the collapse of the apartheid system, Tambo's white masters abandon him, and he is despised by his fellow black Africans, and thus become dislocated.
