Bob Riley's details take him behind the Iron Curtain and in the Middle East, often 'pairing' with CIA agents. Something goes very wrong on a Cairo mission, when a PLO doubles as an asset and Bob is caught in the web of conflicting agendas. The novel attempts to share what Foreign Service families have learned first-hand - the importance of global interconnectedness to achieving happiness.
