Dr. Dara Chen, a charming and nubile psychotherapist, has returned to her Central Park residence in New York City. She had been on a year-long hiatus following the death of her father in Thailand. In the previous installment, "Lunar Eclipse of the Heart," Dara participated in the harrowing rescue of her former patient and roommate, Antoinette, from a sex-trafficking ring.
Having lost an erstwhile patient to suicide a month after Antoinette's rescue, she decides to take an immediate break from her profession, choosing instead to live off the alimony from her ex-husband, John.
During a period of introspection, she confronts her past; her inability to keep her professional and personal life separate. She composes a diary describing intimate details of her relationships, both past and present. Relationships which included a Los Angeles-based sports journalist, Chelle Adekugbe, and a Washington, DC-area architect, Jules Bernard. Dara is unaware these two past lovers of hers are now engaged to be married.
While rekindling a romantic fling, she meets a woman named Raven Sapphire Steele. Raven draws Dara into a world of corruption, debauchery and exploitation. A world from which Raven's lover, a wealthy real estate mogul, derives his tremendous wealth from. Can Dara resist temptation? Or will her economic, emotional and sexual needs lead to her undoing?
