this is where the story strays a bit...

Second in the trilogy "The blood of the lamb", "The Devouring Void" takes a bit of a side-road to another adventure. The parallell with the gospels remains, even if in the background, but that only makes it more interesting. After all, the "true" mages didn't stay around for the Messiah to come to maturity, did they? Spoiler alert: the next few lines would ruin the surprise, don't read them if you don't want to know exactly what's it about :). Well, the three warrior-mages witnessed the powers and miracles of Essaj, their Saviour, and even after being foretold their fates, couldn't make up their minds about the heresy or reality of the acts they saw. So they do what anybody would've done: relate Essaj to a higher authority. But that means delivering him to the one that was convinced of the truth of the Coming Messiah, and even then preparing to destroy him in the name of his dark god. As warriors are want to do, once their task is suspended, the three friends (now not so friendly)get to the serious business of destroying their most hated enemies' citadel. The more important business is momentarily left aside. There is a lot of action and the story gains weight and moment. This book, being the second in the series, suffers the most of the interruption, if you read it apart. To get the full impression of this trilogy, you have to read them together. But they are worth the time. Go get them now. You don't want to miss this book - because the story nears its end and all the masks fall...
