The Devil's Monologue

"An extraordinary, simply sensationally provocative work! Imagine this: In one place you discover answers to all of your questions, as well as answers to some questions you did not know to ask, on a highly controversial subject. What is the genesis of corruption, evil, delinquency, misery, sin? Within these pages appear answers. Here it is-all you ever wanted to know about the devil-in his own words.

Ingenuously, the author uses a first person, major character who tells all. Because he is talking about himself, the brilliant narrator adds a sense of immediacy and authenticity to the "tales." He explains his very essence, sometimes adding an aside to his extended soliloquy. At other times he asks wonderful rhetorical questions that draw a reader in, thereby making the reader an active participant. His explanations for his "behavior" are as well-crafted combination of the truly fabulous and the fantastic, yet the responses are credible. One tends to think that one is reading history rather than mythology.
