The Devil's Bargain: A Modern Retelling of Faust

Bys: Dr W Sumner Davis and Catherine L Davis

What would you sacrifice to have everything you ever wanted?

In The Devil's Bargain: A Modern Retelling of Faust, the ancient story of temptation, ambition, and damnation is reborn for the modern world.

At the center of the story is a man confronted with the oldest and most dangerous of human temptations: the promise that the life he desires can be his-success, influence, knowledge, recognition, and the power to shape his own destiny. The price seems distant, almost theoretical. The rewards are immediate.

And so the bargain is made.

At first, it appears to have worked. Doors open. Obstacles disappear. Possibilities once beyond reach suddenly become attainable. But bargains of this kind are never settled all at once. The true cost is collected gradually-in compromises, relationships, conscience, and the slow erosion of the person he once believed himself to be.

As ambition becomes obsession and success reveals its darker consequences, he is forced to confront a terrifying question: If a man gains everything he ever wanted but loses himself in the process, what has he actually gained?

Drawing upon the enduring legend of Faust, W. Sumner Davis and Catherine Davis transform one of literature's greatest cautionary tales into a contemporary exploration of temptation, morality, power, and the seductive belief that consequences can always be postponed.

Dark, psychological, and increasingly unsettling, The Devil's Bargain asks a timeless question for a modern age:

Everyone has a price. What happens when the Devil discovers yours?
