Reggie Clark, a former reporter for the Toronto Mirror, had just returned from Dawson City where he found out who killed Fat Freddy. He was working on his next bestseller in Toronto in 1958 when he encounters his celestial partner, Mrs. West, who wants him to investigate who killed Miss Gibbons, a private school teacher. There was one problem. He was already investigating who killed Downsville Don at the Exhibition Grounds. It was the beginning of the season of joy, but the master of death didn't care; he performed as instructed but in an unusual way. He could have done it at night on a lonely street, but as an exhibitionist, he did it in front of a crowd that included Reggie Clark. Matters became complicated when Reggie learned a witness wanted him dead using professional hitmen who decided to take him out in his home. His number one rule was avoiding investigations where he could end up as a slab on an autopsy table. Unfortunately, this time, he was close to having that happen.
