This book is fourth in the series, The Delight of Truth, Psalm 119. It is the fourth section of eight verses, each starting with the fourth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Daleth. This letter is the symbol of a door or gateway. As you read through this next section of verses, you can almost 'hear' the desperation in the Psalmist's soul. Perhaps there is even the hint of just giving up. I wonder how many of us have thought at one time or another that it would be better to just die and go to heaven. I think if we are honest, when the road gets difficult to travel and it seems like the uphill climb is steep and we are exhausted physically and /or mentally, we are prone to become discouraged and find ourselves unable to see any light ahead. Our troubles take hold, our fears become large, and we are at the 'end of our rope' barely hanging on. It is exactly in these times of desperation that we must lay prostrate before our God and let His word be our help. When we are reminded of God's forgiveness and love, and His desire to bless His children, then we are also reminded we can trust in His faithfulness and know that we will be delivered according to His plan.
