THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING MAZE RUNNER SERIES - " A] mysterious survival saga that passionate fans describe as a fusion of Lord of the Flies and] The Hunger Games" (Entertainment Weekly) WICKED... This description may be from another edition of this product.
As I've said in my reviews for the other books in this series, it was very entertaining and hard to put down.
However, I won't be giving a high star rating because of how much unnecessary, intense gore and violence there was. Almost approaching a horror in some parts, (it's sort of a zombie apocalypse) so that I ended up skipping entire pages altogether.
There is about the same amount of language as the other two books, which is a lot, but the words are very mild (mostly made-up words but also cr*p and h*ll)
This series reminds me sooo much of Hunger Games in so many ways, but I'd have to say that I liked this series better. The vibe of both series is very similar but Maze Runner felt more hopeful in the end whereas Hunger Games left me disappointed and depressed.
*SPOILER START*
I don't feel like so many characters should have died. Even though it was definitely better than Hunger Games where literally everyone you care about dies, I feel like either Teresa or Newt should have lived? Like they didn't both have to die. I REALLY didn't like the scene when Newt dies, it just felt unnecessary and I would have liked there to still be some hope for Newt to return to normal. Also, even though I didn't like Teresa, I feel like her death was sort of brushed over.
As far as the romance, I feel like I never really got to know Brenda. Plus, it was weird to me how she was acting when Thomas first met her but it never really cleared that up?
On a separate subject, I didn't like how Thomas seemed to lose himself at the end and was just killing brutally without a whole ton of regret or guilt or effect to his character. However, considering his situation it's more understandable. 🤷♀️
*SPOILER END*
I didn't really get to know the characters as well as I would have liked but I guess that wasn't really a huge part of the story anyway.
I liked the hopeful ending, left me feeling satisfied and like the story was fulfilled. I can't think of any loose ends that weren't clarified, it all seems to make sense for the most part.
This would have been such a good series if not for the excessive violence and such!

I bawled my eyes out through this whole book and I hope you do too. Its endlessly depressing and a beautiful and terrible conclusion to the series. The best books are the ones that leave you wanting more and thus delivered that perfectly. I had a bit of a book hangover for sure! Its an amazing ending and I k ow youll love it!
This was a rough book to get through but definitely worth it.

This book left me in tears and I loved the journey that it took me through and where it left me in the end. Even though I am mad at the author for doing the things he did I still love him for blessing us with this wonderful book.
