Generations of a family with continuity and change in a TROUBLING part of the world. This book is about a family set in their historic and geographic context, the age old battles between ethnic groups and domineering forces are presented as family experiences. Weddings occur (with wonderful traditional details)and sons go for soldiers, family economics rise and fall and people survive with their spirit intact. I have enjoyed all the books I have read in this series by Interlink, this and Amin Maaloof's Samarkand have been my favorites. Other literary traditions are worth exploring, these authors don't write like Americans, the plots and people are refreshingly different.
