Three unfortunate souls come together during a calamity and take on an ordeal to track those responsible.

Moose, an oakhead of a dryad, yearns for adventure. His call to action and lack of reflection have him running away from his clan, hoping to stop the inevitable assault.

Aevi, a dawn elf and mage, is content with teaching magic at the Union Academy, only to be dragged into guard duty for the nobles during the festival.

Olivia, a hotheaded noble, dreads her stale life in court. She has spent half her life in the Highland army; however, now that she's the only heir to her father's estate, she takes every opportunity to escape the noble life.

Tension arises in the Union as the annual festival is ruined, and while the group forms on uncertain ground, they find that there is more to the assault than mere cruelty.
