The Dark Moon Anthology

South Coast Writers mostly meet in the Yankalilla area of South Australia.

We are excited to share our first volume of short stories with you, our readers.

In this anthology, we aim to entertain with stories reflecting the 'dark arts' of characters engaging in dubious, dreadful, or deathly deeds.

The 'dark moon' is our common motif - figuratively designed to link our individual stories and offer an overarching symbol for the collection. No writer has been constrained by the necessity to reference the 'dark moon', but rather each has found ingenious ways of developing a narrative within the given framework.

Writing short stories can be a challenge that vexes some and inspires others. In these times of shrinking vocabularies and texting shortcuts, we seek a different kind of brevity: one that relies on careful word choices, concise syntax and covert implications to bring our stories alive.

We hope you will settle down in a cosy corner and let your imagination roam freely while the moon softly wanes, and the hidden agendas of the seemingly ordinary folk within these pages are almost but never quite revealed.
