The Cursed Sleep

By Nicole Zoltack

A prince seeking to be woken.
A swordswoman seeking meaning.
A gender-bent retelling of Sleeping Beauty.

Prince Evander is born to rule a kingdom blessed with prosperity until a vengeful fairy cursed him at birth. On his twenty-first birthday, he will fall into an endless sleep, and with him, his kingdom will be frozen in time.

His parents desperately seek a way to break the curse. They fail.

When the fated day arrives, the prophecy is fulfilled, and silence claims the land. The castle slumbers. The people sleep, and the prince lies untouched for years.

Until a wandering knight named Seraphine stumbles upon the abandoned castle.

She is no noble hero, just a swordswoman drifting from battle to battle, but when she discovers the sleeping prince, she learns the truth of Evander's curse. His endless dreaming is not mercy. It is about control. As long as he sleeps, the fairy's power remains absolute.

Waking Evander means risking everything Seraphine has left to lose... and discovering whether some curses were designed to be broken by more than magic alone.
