These poems were written chronologically, beginning with Trump's inauguration, and his harping on the need for a border wall with Mexico to exclude illegal emigrants from the United States. The last poem concerns the assault on emigrant family units. The author's opinion is that Trump is very flawed intellectually, psychologically, morally, and polit-ically. But as history has shown from the times of the Roman Empire to the present day, flaws do not prevent a man from becoming a country's leader. In our own time, we have seen Stalin, Hitler, Mao, and dozens of lesser autocrats govern various countries around the world. What is particularly disturbing in Trump's instance is that he is displaying a number of autocratic attitudes.Like Hitler, Trump seems to have a Messianic complex--only he can make America great again! And not having a Treaty of Versailles to blame for America's economic woes as did Hitler, he has settled on unfair economic practices. The world is taking advantage of America through these unfair economic practices, such as tariffs. Plus, our allies are not paying their fair share of mutual defense. That the United States is playing the victim would be rather amusing if it weren't so dangerous! The author's hope is that these poems will be a Klaxon, warning that Trump is a danger to not only the United States but also to our traditional allies.
