The Curse of Bearcat Cave

To understand the story of Bearcat Cave you first have to understand how it all began. It all started in the Yucatan Peninsula, in an area we now know as Belize. The year was 985 A.D., and a Mayan chief was preparing for the dawn of the New Year. It had been prophesied that his hidden city would soon be discovered, so he made a choice. He must hide their greatest secret. Over the past 90 years they had tried everything to protect the great power bestowed upon them from the stars. They evacuated the outlying villages and destroyed all records of the hidden resting place and the power it contained, but he knew this would not be enough now. Every new moon the forest grew smaller, and the river that masked the mouth of the hidden gate was slowing. Soon he feared the temple would be discovered, and in the wrong hands, the great power could enslave the world. The grand priest charged the protection of the great power with the chiefs three sons, for only they were worthy enough to be trusted with such an immense task. The eldest son, Yatzil, was a natural leader, the second, Iktan, was known for his control and ability to stay calm under pressure, and the youngest, Ikal, for his unflinching confidence. Together they formed the Jaguar warriors. Their ancestors had been the guardians of the great power and the secrets it held for centuries. Knowing they could never return home again, they set off on a long journey to hide the great power on the first full moon. They would have to find an area that would be impossible to find, and guard it for eternity. They followed the shore to the great river letting the brightest star guide them until the next full moon, until they finally found the hiding place they deemed worthy, And for the next 1000 years this is where it would remain, undisturbed, until one late October evening when three boys went out on a deer hunt...Based on actual events.
