Excellent history of the Crusades from the Western view
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 21 years ago
This is a very interesting and easy to read introduction to the Crusades. It describes the life in Europe at the time and the mind set and reasons for the Crusades. It describes the main European characters and their motivations. This makes the book much more than a series of dates and battles. The book is well written and provides an excellent source of basic information and background on the Crusades. Although the material in the book is mainly taken from Western chroniclers, it doesn't minimize the barbarity and slaughter committed by the Crusaders.
