Some people say that The Crucible foretold the global pandemic, as well as the death, suffering, and fear a virus brings. More importantly, it forecast how the virus changed people's thinking.

In the novel, the virus is "fusion." It fuses human bodies, as well as people's souls and personalities. Sometimes, the virus gives incredible power to the infected; sometimes, it pushes the infected off the cliff.

To a normal person, the infected are strange creatures. However, they are valuable items in the eyes of organ traffickers. In the end, all infected decided to unitedly fight against discrimination and press from normal people when they accepted their identity as a new creature.

A shut hospital, isolated environment, and a society under extremity... Factors that are often ignored by most of us yet, are the playground of darkness in human nature and the most suitable stage to display a virus carnival.
