The Creosote Widow

By: Betts, Tanner

After the Rock Springs Massacre, Elias "Lije" Creed - a scarred Black preacher turned poison peddler - forms a lethal pact with Mei-Ling "Mary" Zhao, a Chinese survivor who hid among the dead. Together they weaponize whispers, arsenic, and the endless range wars to destroy the cattle barons and railroad men who ordered the slaughter of their people.

But in the harsh high plains, vengeance extracts a heavier price than blood. As they poison wells and topple empires, their desperate, passionate alliance ignites into something far more dangerous than hate: a raw, redemptive love that threatens to consume them both.
The Creosote Widow is a masterful, unflinching Western novel that blends brutal action, visceral intimacy, and profound emotional depth. From the copper taste of fear to the creosote-scented wind carrying secrets across the benches, every page drips with atmosphere and consequence.

Perfect for readers who crave gritty, character-rich Westerns in the tradition of classic masters - but darker, more passionate, and uncompromisingly real.
