This book is absolutely NOT for the novice -- despite what the book itself claims or what the editorial review says. Knowledge-dump by experts is not effective in organizing info for your brain -- nor for that most important goal: helping you to acquire a perspective. This book is definitely knowledge-dump and is no way to learn the game from scratch. No matter how good is the book's inventory of content, hodge-podge ordering & lack of perspective-building aids unequivocally eliminate this book from consideration for any novice to Craps. HOWEVER, if you already know (and are comfortable with) the rules of Craps, this book is marvelous. It cuts thru all kind of hype, gimmics, systems-crap (no pun), etc. Besides misinformation the book rids you of (a very nice aspect of the book), the book supplies lots of facts and fun things like trivia and lingo. The book is not about fluff though; it is full of substance. The book's quiz-orientation and insightful explanations will get you to a real true understanding of every aspect of absolutely everything about Craps (the game, odds, edges, "systems" garbage, bankroll/money-management, and more [including some fun fluff things too -- like cute Craps lingo, and of course the fun of doing the quizes]).
