The Corpse Vanishes (1942). Black & White; Full Screen. Bela gives his signature, “Bela stares,” right up front. If you are a fan of Bela “Ogles”, then you will want to find movies with actor George Zucco; Zucco can out-gaze Bela. Brides die at the altar. Bodies are snatched. Nefarious forces at work. They even quote Shakespeare, “Much Ado about Nothing.” Later, Bela plays with his organ. There is even a dark and stormy night and an old dark house where Dr. Lorenz (Bela Lugosi) keeps his wife, Countess Lorenz (Elizabeth Russell) juiced up. She is forever young. Reporter Pam Hunter (Luana Walters) suspects something does not smell kosher. After this movie, you may not want to get married.
