A Spellbinding Account

The Cooperating Witness is an incredibly intense yet spellbinding novel. Taped conversations and witness accounts expose us to unusual activities by such suspects as Jamal Hassim, Company Director of a 'cover-up' company and who is also a highly trained Air Force Major who secretly trains and supports international terrorists. An alarming thought and true-to-life taped conversations lead us to an immediate awareness that Hassim has intimate in-depth access to military bases, storage depots, advanced weaponry as well as the most sophisticated fighter jets currently used, which gives us reason to be concerned about public security. In comparison, the catastrophic September 11 crime reinforces our assumptions that these clandestine meetings carry on to such an extent that serious crimes such as the reported shooting down of an American passenger airplane, which injured and killed numerous passengers and other similar reports, accentuate the need for stringent public security measures. The book really sheds light on vital points as these and address the urgency of measures to be implemented. Very interesting findings in the novel itself. The taped dialogue, the random conversations, the clandestine activities all contribute to the authenticity of the novel. The ambience is one of realistically thinking that such happenings did and could easily take place in our neighbourhood. It genuinely explores bringing to the fore matters which affect us now, even. The novel reads like a 'spy-fiction' that isn't a story but part of what we actually face at the current time and that's what makes it so chilling yet comprehensible.
