Robert Blume completed this book at the request of collaborator Arthur Combs after the latter's death. A humanistic psychologist and past president of ASCD, Combs' book "A Personal Approach to Teaching: Beliefs That Make a Difference" states a philosophy of teaching that has guided my teaching for the last 10 years. They apply this perspective chapter-by-chapter to the major institutions in our constitutional republic and show how better and more humane decisions result from open dialogue.
