The ConcreteLot: A story of finding where you belong

By Daniel Navarro

New to the Bronx, a boy and his little brother are still learning their way around. School is loud. The buildings are tall. Everything feels unfamiliar.

Then they find the lot behind the school: cracked concrete, crooked painted bases, a chain-link fence, and a game anyone can join.

There are close calls, missed catches, disagreements, and plenty of laughter. Each time the brothers return, the lot feels a little more like theirs. And the boy who felt like the new kid begins to feel that he belongs.

Inspired by a childhood story from Daniel Navarro's Into the Foxhole, The Concretelot is an illustrated picture book about brotherhood, friendship, and finding your place together.
