The State confers jurisdiction on certain courts to deal with offences which, because of their specific nature, deserve special treatment: these are courts with special jurisdiction. These courts have jurisdiction over offences committed by a particular category of people, or offences that are specific in nature. This is the case, for example, in criminal matters concerning military and similar offences, offences committed by minors, and offences involving the misappropriation of public property of a certain value. Thus, the State responds to the commission of such offences by means of a criminal trial. However, the prosecution of the accused must be carried out within a reasonable time, which is the average time after which the person being prosecuted can be brought before a criminal court. The European notion of reasonable time is an essential component of the fair trial enshrined in the international conventions ratified by Cameroon. This.
