As a computer programmer, I've seen all kinds of books on the Internet, writing HTML, how to use Java, how to clean your motherboard, and every other topic one can imagine. Most have promised they were complete or easy of fast; but, most were none of those. So, I was extremely pleased to find The Complete Small business Internet Guide was everything it promised, and much more. I bought one copy for myself, and another for a client. Working together with the two books, we were able to put his business on the Internet in less than 2 days, a record for doing anything these days. Best bargain I've ever gotten in a book, and I'd buy any other book written by Tom Heatherington. He kept his promises.

I was complaining that all the "Get Online" books seem too high-level for me. I needed hard facts and down-to-earth explanations of the options available to me while creating my website. I'm not interested the the latest bleeding-edge technology; I just want to get our website up and running and attracting customers.I was getting very discouraged until a friend recommended this book, "The Complete Small Business Internet Guide". This book speaks my language! What needs to be done, how it needs to be done, problems to look out for, who can help me, all the questions I've been hoping other books would answer are all right there with excellent examples and discussion. Other books list all the "parts" that are available for making a website, but they don't explain the pros and cons of choosing one over the other, and they don't explain how they all go together. There are also so many weird little problems that can crop up! I had never even heard of them from the other books. Everyone else says you should use newsgroups to advertise, but they don't mention that "Oh, by the way, you can seriously mess up your relations with your customers by doing it the wrong way. Here's what you should look out for...". That's good stuff, and the Heatheringtons have filled every chapter with tips like this. So, not only do I know what to do, I know what not to do, and why. I can now get on with creating my website with a confidence I did not have before.Well, I'm so tickled that I felt compelled to write this review. If you are feeling somewhat intimidated by the technology and the hype, and are trying to create a real website, get this book.
I'm on the net, and in the dark no longer.

Everyone is talking internet these days. My competitors have a web prescence, from promotional information to e-commerce. However, I didn't touch a computer until they upgraded my college typing lab to Commodore 64's. That was then this is now. This book took me from zero, to internet hero. Domains, url's, hypertext, security, all were unknowns, but now are well clarified. Its much easier than I thought. My company now sports a well desgined web page, with links to technical information. E-commerce is the next step, and this book pointed me in the right direction. I expect to be selling client software from a hypertext link in my company web site within six months. Hat's off to you guys.
Finnally, step by step answers.

My wife and I are looking at starting another business and we want to have good exposure on the Internet. "The Complete Small Business Internet Guide" gave us the important step by step information we needed to know! I personally talked to Tom and Lori Heatherington and this book came about because people like me were asking the same questions on "How To" get our business online with the least amount of hassle and expense. I'm absolutely positive this book is worth every cent because of the money saved in making unnecessary and costly mistakes!
