Similar to the first version of this book, the purpose of this expanded practical guide to California state government is to provide readers with all the essential information in one place, in an easy-to-use format. The approach that I have taken is to first cover the subject matters under each of the three branches of state government, in a question-and-answer format - using frequently asked questions and their respective answers. In this way, readers can hopefully find the question they have with the accompanying answer. In this second edition of the practical guide, I have substantially expanded the number of chapters covering the three branches of state government. I have also included sections on political and elections law, local governments in this state, the state Constitution, and comparisons and contrasts between California and its federal and other state counterparts. The second part of this book continues with a glossary of terms and phrases. I believe it is the most comprehensive glossary available and covers common terminology primarily from the legislative branch of state government, but also the executive and judicial branches.
