The Competition

A festival for solo music performers in the heart of Derbyshire's Peak District has attracted musicians from all over the world. It has also attracted drugs, loan sharks and high stake gambling. A predatory reality television show focuses on one of the musicians and makes his life a misery. When a top musician is found death on a hill in the surrounding moors, the universal suspect is the young musician targeted by the reality show. A further death followed by the abduction of another performer raises the mood of the festival to a vindictiveness fuelled by the television show. The Competition mingles black humour with crime mystery.
