No thumbs Up

I am a big fan of Mary Monroe, and I am always pleased with her work but this one fell out of the box wounded. She is a great storyteller, but this is an adaptation of a screen play and it just does not work for me. It is a tale of 2 characters Terri and her best friend Nicole and their boyfriends. They act like silly teenagers chasing love. The author spends the entire time up until the very end of Terri chasing Harrison and they don't hook up until the end of the story. The end is predictable, and I was bored to death and couldn't wait for it to end.

Mary is always on point...

Mary Monroe is an unparalleled author! Her books always deliver and I can't put them down. The characters are always well developed, as if you know them, and their language is so colorful it makes you LAUGH OUT LOUD!Terri and Nicole have that sister girl relationship we all would love to have! I would recommend this book to anyone who is a loyal fan or a new fan! This will get you ready for her next one in the "God" series!

Love Never Fails!

Excellent Read! Teri Stewart, had so much going for herself. She was successful, attractive and most importantly giving.Taking care of her Grandparents. I liked that about her. The only thing that was missing from her life was love, until she met Harrison who was a challenge for her. She played hard to get knowing she wanted this man but later opened her heart to be betrayed. I loved the ending how love over powered all the negative odds against their relationship! Goes to show how love hides a multitude of faults and how we must forgive!

(4.5 Stars) An Intriguing Book by Mary Monroe!

Music executive Teri Stewart is always finding ways to make new artists into superstars. Her days are busy with meetings and trying to keep her boss happy. She spends her nights alone, wondering why she does not have a man. Her best friend Nicole has told her time and time again that she has to loosen up. When Teri decides that she's not going to waste her time with trying to find a man, she runs into a local radio DJ and old flame named Harrison Star. Harrison knew exactly how to make Teri weak at the knees. Unfortunately, Teri cannot get past the fact that Harrison had broken her heart in the past. Will Teri let the past impact her future, or will she take Nicole's advice and loosen up? Author Mary Monroe has written an intriguing book about an independent woman that wants to have it all. I enjoyed the way that Monroe gave details about the reason the main characters Teri & Nicole are having such a terrible time falling in love. You can relate to why Nicole is hesitant about getting involved with another man after the abusive relationship she had with her ex-husband. These two best friends stick together through thick and thin. I had not been a big fan of Mary Monroe's prior novels, but The Company We Keep made me a fan and I cannot wait until her next novel comes out. Reviewed by Jackie for Urban Reviews

No Time For Love!

Terri Stewart has everything, great job, nice home, cute car, loving grandparents who adore her. One problem, she's married to her dream job. She wants to be on top of everything, when actually everything is on top of her. None of these things can keep her warm at night and rub her feet after a tough day at the JOB. Nor can it scratch that itch that she can't seem to do with her battery operated substitutes. She has to learn to go out on a limb for Love. She just doesn't know how. Until a blast from the past hurricanes in and shakes things up. Ms. Monroe I enjoyed your book as always. And the cover was great. Congratulations on another great book. Savvy Book Club, Jackson, MS

The Company We Keep

Teri Stewart is a beautiful, intelligent, and tough as nail record company executive. Teri works long and exhausting hours giving her job 110%; leaving no time for a personal life. Harrison Starr is a handsome, charming, and very popular D.J. who wants Teri, but doesn't want to play second fiddle to her career. Since he cant seem to have her he instead fills his time with every beautiful woman he runs into, but none of them can fill his need for the real thing. Teri and Harrison continue to run into each other at various parties in their celebrity circle and at each occassion they fight their obvious attraction. In addition to fighting their attraction, Teri is fighting a past flings advances and Harrison is fighting his jealousy of seeing Teri in another man's company. At some point, Teri and Harrison decide to throw caution to the wind and give it another try but outside forces are working hard at pulling them apart. The Company We Keep is just a great read. I love that Teri is a strong woman that won't compromise her beliefs. The Company We Keep is one book that I'll definitely read again. Reviewed by: Robyn Morris, Black Butterfly Review
