There are indeed things that go bump in the night, and Forsythea Daniels has fallen in love with 1 of them. While on her first crime scene, working for a local newspaper, she meets a darkly handsome man named Edric. His convincing lie leads her away, leaving him to repair the damage being done while continuing to maintain his Community's secrets; but not before this woman's innocence awakens the darkness in him, that he struggles to keep hold of. Forsythea meets Edric again only a day later, when he saves her from a mugging, but before she can thank him, he disappears into the night, leaving her to wonder about him once more. Determined to repay him, she embarks on a journey of information and finds herself entwined in a dangerous game that she never thought could ever truly exist. In order to survive she must learn one thing: nothing is ever as it seems.
