a reference work every Colorado notary should own

If a Colorado notary had just one notary book in their library, this should be it, because it contains everything that a Colorado notary needs to know. The title is a bit misleading, depending on how you interpret the phrase 'notary law'. It deals with very many topics. It begins with a section on how to become a notary and the various 'tools' that a notary needs. The '10 Most-Asked Questions' section can serve as a 'no-can-do' reference, since it deals with the types of things a notary can and cannot do. It's especially the things that we cannot do that will keep us out of trouble. If a person is a new notary, they will appreciate the section on 'Steps to Proper Notarization'. It basically walks you through all of the things you should do to perform a notarization. The heart of the book is the section, 'Notary Laws Explained'. It goes into Colorado notary law in more detail, defining the acts that a Colorado notary can perform, things that a notary is unauthorized to do, the various types of notarizations, practices and procedures, ... in short, everything you need to know. There is a 'Test Your Knowledge' section. And the answers are provided so that you can see how you did. The section on 'Colorado Laws Pertaining to Notaries Public' contains all of the Colorado Revised Statutes as they pertain to notaries. This latest edition came out in 2004. Some of the notary laws have changed since then, so you will want to check to make sure that the laws in your book are current. Visit the Colorado Secretary of State website. The real beauty of this reference work is that it is compact enough that you can carry it wherever you go, and refer to it whenever you have a question. And you might want to have it spiral bound, as I did. It's perfect bound, so the pages will eventually come out if you refer to it very often. Despite the minor flaw of a few of the notary laws needing to be updated, I highly recommend this reference work. It really is a book that every Colorado notary should own.
