Jim, Dossie, his wife, and their son Hector live in travel trailers, traveling from park to park around America They educate Hector in libraries and sustain themselves through hunting and fishing. A simple and and happy life until Dossie, in mid life, buys a house, wanting to settle down. Jim and Hector try to adapt to staying in one place. Dossie's sudden changes keep coming fast and furious.
