Book Overview

Ava Ballantyne's brother died in 1987. She was 18 years old. That fall she went to college and spent hours in the library trying to find what she called the "Code." Certainly there had to be a "code" that would have prevented her brother from dying a violent death. Ava swore she would find it and then tell everyone about it. Ava was going to end violence and war ...She was going to stop anyone from dying from violence ever again. Shortly after my first son was born, I began writing, "The Code of Destiny." I still hadn't figured out the code, but I knew it was my destiny to find it. "The Code of Destiny," is my personal journey to find the code to end violence.

Code of Destiny

Ava Ballantyne has a gift that she has inherited. She is not allowed to talk about it. People are very interested in learning about the gift, especially a certain CIA agent. Ava needs to make sure her gift doesn't fall into the wrong hands. She sets all of her expectations for herself high. For this reason when she becomes a first time mother she feels like a failure. I laughed because I think every first time mother feels that way, especially if they grow up where there are no babies in the house. Ava has a tendency to drift in and out of day dreams and this was a little confusing fore me. I wasn't always sure if what I was reading was just a dream or real. I enjoyed it enough to to read the sequel.

A fun adventure read and a fine pick

When you have a secret, everyone wants to know it. "The Code of Destiny" tells the story of Ava Ballantyne, a woman on the run from the CIA, her friends, and so much more, as she bears a secret that she cannot share under any circumstances. This secret, however, will come out whether she wants it to or not. "The Code of Destiny" is a fun adventure read and a fine pick.

`I'm just a daydreamer.'

Ava Ballantyne has a unique and special gift. Ava has a gift so powerful that she is not even allowed to share it with her closest friends. She knows that if this information fell into the wrong hands, the consequences could be dire. This novel is the first of three, and I wish I could read all three to get a clearer sense of Ava and her mission. I am instinctively drawn to the power of daydreaming as a way of envisioning the future, but that's at a purely personal level. In this novel, Ms Enochs has the world in mind, and Ava Ballantyne has her work cut out. While this novel is about a collective better future, it is also about a first-time mother having a hard time juggling a new baby, the stress of her brother's death, and the goals that she has yet to accomplish in her own life. I enjoyed Ava's daydreaming but found it hard at times to work out whether aspects of the story were in the present, the past or the future. On one level this doesn't matter as Ava's reinventing of herself concerns her destiny which will presumably become clearer in the following books but on another level it creates uncertainty about what has happened so far. `The rest will fall into place when the timing is right.' I certainly hope so: I want to see where this story ends. Jennifer Cameron-Smith

Bridget's Review

Ava has a rare and extraordinary talent, one that she must keep hidden for her safety and the safety of others. Her ability is not the only secret she keeps. She also happens to be a very important member of an exclusive secret society. When a CIA agent who has a keen telepathic ability sets her sights on Ava, who knows what might happen. What will happen when these two come face to face? Very intriguing. I suggest waiting until you can read this book all the way through because you won't be able to put it down.

Great read!
