2025 is a significant year for climate change as scientists have warned that this is the last year we have to reduce emissions or face a changing climate we cannot control. We need to act now. Having studied the climate emergency since 2015, when I retired, this book is the one I would like to have found myself. This book is written from the perspective of a "concerned citizen" as I am not an expert but have a background in 45 years education and over 40 years as a green activist, locally and nationally. Unlike most books on the climate emergency my book explains what it is in plain English, offers solutions and describes outcomes if we don't act. I am trying to inspire and empower you to act. We need to change responses of hoping it goes away, denying its happening as it does not affect me, being distracted in social media silos, or being slaves to an economic system to survive. You are up against powerful foes of fossil fuel corporations and corrupt governments who control the media to make sure you are ignorant and inactive. They carry on wrecking our climate and destroying our future for the profits of the rich elite minority. In response I have created my own media through this book backed up by a website www.climatefriendlylife.co.uk with plug in videos. My book is in 3 parts. Part 1 explains what the climate emergency is and how it will affect you with up to date well researched global examples of extreme weather, future water and food shortages, biodiversity loss and rising seas. Part 2 explains what you can do about it individually and collectively showing different paths you can take as an individual, in protest, in politics, in supporting non government organisations and maintaining your mental health. Part 3 explores possible future outcomes of what we do. It describes the best case scenario of a world experiencing up to 2 C and the worst scenario of a world beyond 2 C. The positive footnote at the end describes how we can avoid this happening through the global political process of U.N. Congress of Parties or non violent mass mobilisation to force governments to change policies.
