This book contains a wealth of interesting schoolhouse patterns, eleven in all, ranging from traditional to modern. As with all the Classic American Quilt Collection books, there are detailed instructions, lavish photographs, a black and white line drawing of each quilt top that you can photocopy and use to experiment with color combinations, and lots of tips and tricks about seaming, piecing and finishing. But every pattern involves cutting templates especially for the quilt in question, and those templates have crazy angles and bizarre shapes. There are house patterns out there that involve standard, rotary-cut shapes, but none of them are in this book. So if intricate (perhaps paper) piecing is your thing, buy this. Otherwise, look further.
