This is the translation of the original version of the book. Since then, some predictions of this hypothesis were fulfilled by new discoveries and some of them became mainstream. Some of these ideas were developed and led to new hypotheses and new experiments.

I see the hard biological part of this book pretty much the same. But the ethological part must be updated, taking into account some new ideas.
