Amos Aaron Trahan is a Louisiana native and veteran of the War Between the States. When he is wounded in battle he is ministered to by a Methodist Army chaplain and his life is changed forever. He becomes a circuit rider, or "saddle preacher" whose assigned parish is along the frontier of north Texas. Just getting to the location of his circuit is an ongoing adventure and once he gets there the adventure continues. Along the way he continually meets people whose lives he impacts in various ways.
